Chronic kidney disease
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is when your kidneys are not working properly due to kidney damage that has developed over months or years. One in 10 people in Australia has chronic kidney disease.
Kidneys and how they work
The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs that sit on either side of your spine, just below your rib cage. They are about the size of an adult fist. Their main role is to filter waste products from your body.
Recovery position
The recovery position is used for a casualty who is unconscious but breathing, or for an unconscious person who has foreign material in their airway.
