The Emotional Side of IVF – Dr. Jenny Cook

by | Babies and Pregnancy, MonashIVFJC, Procedures, Women's Health

The emotional rollercoaster of IVF cannot be underestimated. It can go from being the best thing in the world to being the worst thing in the world. There is a lot of stress riding on this. The actual process of wanting to be pregnant, to have a baby.

And I would say to be kind to yourself. We’ve certainly got counsellors and psychologists available. I’m always available to talk to anyone and of course, our beautiful supportive nursing staff are as well.

Other things that we’d be aware of during an IVF cycle, in terms of the physical aspects, some women will develop bloating after the egg collection. You can feel tired, you can have sharp, shooting pains for a period of time.

Dr. Jenny Cook is a Fertility Specialist who work at the Monash IVF clinic. She has published widely in the area of Gynaecological Laparoscopy and has presented at many national and international meetings. She is recognised for her experience in laparoscopic gynaecological procedures.
