1. Why am I using Cisatracurium Accord?
Cisatracurium Accord contains the active ingredient cisatracurium. Cisatracurium Accord is used to relax the body’s muscles.
Cisatracurium Accord will normally be given to you when you are in surgery, or during other medical procedures.
Cisatracurium Accord is only used in conjunction with an anaesthetic, so you will be asleep during the procedure.

2. What should I know before I use Cisatracurium Accord?
Do not use if you have ever had an allergic reaction to cisatracurium besilate, atracurium or benzenesulfonic acid or any of the ingredients listed at the end of the CMI.
Talk to your doctor if you have any other medical conditions, take any other medicines, or are pregnant or plan to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.

6. Are there any side effects?
All medicines can have side effects. If you do experience any side effects, most of them are minor and temporary. However, some side effects may need medical attention.
Some of the side effects are:
- Flushing of the face and upper body
- Skin rashes or hives anywhere on the body
- Slow heartbeat
- Low blood pressure
- Difficulty breathing, collapse or shock

1. Why am I using Cisatracurium Accord?
Cisatracurium Accord contains the active ingredient cisatracurium. Cisatracurium Accord belongs to a group of medicines called neuromuscular blockers.
Cisatracurium Accord works by blocking the effects of one of the body’s chemical messengers called acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is involved in muscle contraction.
By relaxing your body’s muscles Cisatracurium Accord makes it easier for you to be kept asleep (under anaesthesia) or sedation.
Cisatracurium Accord is used to relax the body’s muscles. Cisatracurium Accord will normally be given to you when you are in surgery, or during other medical procedures. Cisatracurium Accord is only used in conjunction with an anaesthetic, so you will be asleep during the procedure.
2. What should I know before I use Cisatracurium Accord?
Warnings
Do not use Cisatracurium Accord if:
- you are allergic to cisatracurium besilate, atracurium or benzenesulfonic acid or any of the ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet
Check with your doctor if you have or have had:
- myasthenia gravis, or any other form of neuromuscular disease
- or a relative have had previous difficulties with anaesthetics
- an allergic reaction to any other muscle relaxant medicines
During treatment, you may be at risk of developing certain side effects. It is important you understand these risks and how to monitor for them. See additional information under Section 6. Are there any side effects?
Cisatracurium Accord is not suitable for everyone.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Ask your doctor about the risks and benefits of using this medicine while you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
3. What if I am taking other medicines?
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including any medicines, vitamins or supplements that you buy without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop.
Some medicines may interfere with Cisatracurium Accord and affect how it works or Cisatracurium Accord may affect how they work.
- Antibiotics.
- Anti-arrhythmics, which are used to control irregular heart or rapid heartbeat.
- Diuretics, used to increase your volume of urine.
- Magnesium or lithium salts.
- Phenytoin or carbamazepine (for fits)
Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure about what medicines, vitamins or supplements you are taking and if these affect Cisatracurium Accord.
4. How do I use Cisatracurium Accord?
How much to use
Cisatracurium Accord is a medicine that is given by injection. Cisatracurium Accord will be administered by an anaesthetist or other highly trained doctor, usually during surgery or other medical procedures. The dosage will vary according to many factors such as body weight and the duration of the procedure.
If you use too much Cisatracurium Accord
Overdoses of Cisatracurium Accord lead to prolonged relaxation of the body’s muscles. This can be readily treated, however, this situation is unlikely to occur because Cisatracurium Accord is only administered by an anaesthetist or other highly trained doctor who will closely monitor your progress.
Whenever you are given Cisatracurium Accord equipment will be available to care for you if an overdose happens.
5. What should I know while using Cisatracurium Accord?
Things you should do
If you have any concerns about the use of Cisatracurium Accord ask your doctor or nurse.
Driving or using machines
Be careful driving or operating machinery until you know how Cisatracurium Accord affects you.
Looking after your medicine
The hospital will store Cisatracurium Accord under the correct conditions.
Getting rid of any unwanted medicine
Your doctor or nurse will dispose of any Cisatracurium Accord that may be left over.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date.
6. Are there any side effects?
