What N-Statin Oral Drops are used for

Nystatin is a medicine used for treating infections caused by fungi, including yeast.

N-Statin Oral Drops are used to treat candidal infections of the mouth and throat (e.g. thrush).

Before you use N-Statin Oral Drops

When you should not use it

  • Do not use n-Statin Oral Drops if you know you are allergic to Nystatin or any of the ingredients in the oral drops. (See product description section below).

Before you start to use it

Talk with your doctor or pharmacist if:

  • you are pregnant
  • you are breast feeding

How to take N-Statin Oral Drops

  • Shake the bottle well before you measure each dose
  • Measure your dose with the dropper provided

Drop the measured dose of medicine under the tongue and hold the medicine in your mouth for as long as possible. Swish it around, gargle and swallow.

  • Discard four weeks after the date of initial opening

Usual dose: Infants, children and Adults: 1mL (100 000 I.U.) four times a day.

Your doctor may tell you to use a different dose. Take the amount of medicine your doctor told you to. Continue treatment for at least 48 hours after your symptoms have disappeared.

If you forget to take it

If you forget to take your N-Statin Oral Drops, take the missed dose as soon as you remember

If it is almost time for your next regular dose, wait until then to take your medicine and skip the missed dose.

Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

If you have taken too much N-Statin Oral Drops, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Alternatively you can call the Poisons Information Centre by dialling 13 11 26 and they will advise you on what you must do.

Side effects

N-Statin Oral Drops may have some unwanted side effect in some people. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have problems with any of the following side effects :

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhoea
  • Mild stomach upset

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any other side effects that you think may be caused by this medicine.

Storage

  • Store your N-Statin Oral Drops in a cool dry place. Store below 25°C. Protect from light. Do not freeze.
  • Keep all medicines away from children
  • Do not use N-Statin Oral Drops after the expiry date on the pack.
  • Discard four weeks after the date of initial opening

Product Description

Nystatin Oral Suspension 100,000 I.U./mL (vanilla flavoured) in a 24mL amber glass bottle with a calibrated dropper.

Ingredients:

N-Statin oral drops contain in each mL

Nystatin 100,000 I.U.

Sucrose, saccharin sodium, sodium metabisulfite, carmellose sodium, sodium citrate, methyl hydroxybenzoate, propyl hydroxybenzoate, purified water,vanilla flavour
